Liliana’s Caress is $3.50! This unassuming uncommon from M11 has no other printings. It hasn’t seen any serious tournament play that I know of, so the casuals must be to blame for this price. When buying collections, be sure to pull these from the bulk! I don’t know if these will ever see a reprint in a commander deck, but to me and most other magic players it’s just a paycheck.

Beseech the Queen is $4.00! I didn’t even know this card was considered good by anybody! Diabolic Tutor is pretty unattractive at four mana, and Demonic Tutor is extremely good at 2 mana, so I guess a 3-mana tutor in mono black is pretty reasonable. There aren’t any other printings other than Shadowmoor, and I doubt that we will see a reprint in a commander deck considering the mechanic involved. For me this is just another check to be found in bulk boxes, but it’s possible that this creeps up another dollar or 2 in a few years. There are just better spec opportunities out there.
I have a really good target for you today: Shrieking Affliction. This uncommon from Return to Ravnica will follow the trend of Liliana’s Caress and is even seeing mild tournament success in the online modern dailies. You can tell that Star City Games agrees with this strategy considering they have them priced at $1.49 while TCG mid is at a quarter! There are a ton of them out there to be sure, so it will probably be a few years before we see real gains, but then again it only took 6 months after rotation for Gavony Township to spike (although that was a rare). I would not be at all surprised if people went out to TCG player and bought up a ton of cheap copies. Personally, I’m going to include it on every single buylist I post online and try to slowly accumulate them that way. Long term specs drain your wallet and tie up your funds making it difficult to participate in short term spikes that can give you a fast turnaround, but when they cost a quarter or less it ends up costing nearly nothing. I love those!
