Darksteel Plate from Mirrodin Beseiged is $5.00! This rare is a commander staple and gets played in a lot of decks. It usually has a pretty high vendor rate too, meaning vendors pay a pretty good price on it compared to its retail value.

Foil Spectral Procession from Shards of Alara is $25.00! The regular one is only $3.00, so what’s up with the over 8x multiplier?! That’s nuts! I think players that like to play token strategies are devoted, thus increasing competition for an already very scarce card. I have a feeling if the non foil copy were more expensive, we would not be seeing such a high multiplier as there is a cap people are willing to pay.
The multiplier for foil commander cards and other casual cards is pretty high if the non foil version isn’t too expensive. We’ve seen $25 foil Fellwar Stones, $30 foil Chromantic Lantern, and $15 foil Mimic Vat. So guess how much a foil Darksteel Plate is? Would you believe $8.00? I know I wouldn’t. SCG is sold out, as are some of the other vendors, but I did manage to find some on TCG player for $8.00. I don’t see how this foil is so cheap. I would trade for infinite of these at $8.00 each, but the odds of even running into one for trade are very low. I tend to be very conservative when it comes to paying cash for cards because the opportunity cost is very high (the cash won’t be available if an awesome deal comes up), but I am strongly considering buying out TCG on NM foil Darksteel plates. It wouldn’t even be that hard; I think there may be a total of maybe 20 copies? Fair warning, if you are interested in any foil copies at $8.00, don’t hesitate too long.
