Theros Selesnya Conclave in Standard

Catfolk, Elephants, and Enchantments (Oh My!) It’s been a while since I’ve tried my hand at Selesnya Aggro. Mainly due to the monetary barrier that is Voice of Resurgence. However, now that’s done and over with, the question becomes was if collecting the necessary super expensive cards is worth it. First off, let’s look at the decklist itself Selesnya AggroMain Board (60)4 Advent of the Wurm4 Boon Satyr4 Experiment One4 Fleecemane Lion4 Loxodon Smiter3 Unflinching Courage1 Spear of Heliod2 Ajani, Caller of the Pride4 Selesnya Charm4 Soldier of the Pantheon4 Voice of Resurgence7 Forest7 Plains4 Selesnya Guildgate4 Temple GardenSideboard (15)2 Celestial Flare3 Gods Willing2 Pithing Needles2 Glare of Heresy2 Rootborn Defenses2 Sundering Growth2 Last Breath Based on the early builds for...

Enter Theros: Aggro Post Rotation

Lets face facts, Innistrad was a pretty awesome block overall, giving us the likes of Snapcaster Mage , Olivia Voldaren, Huntmaster of the Fells, Liliana of the Veil, Restoration Angel, and while they’re not from Innistrad, Thragtusk and Thundermaw Hellkite most definitely made a splash in standard. I’m not going to go into too deep a break down of the decks as most of these are just theory crafting and haven’t seen much, if any sort of practice play. Without further ado, lets start with something I’m familiar with Selesnya Beatdown.     6x        Forest 3x        Oblivion Ring 4x        Plains 4x        Temple Garden 4x        Rancor 4x        Sunpetal Grove 3x        Arbor Elf...

From the Soulbound Train to the Rise of Thraben: A look at G/W Humans

Some time ago, shortly after the release of Avacyn Restored, I came across Mike Cannon’s article about soul bonding creatures. It was a nice look into what the mechanic was capable of, with neat trick such as using Mortarpod paired with Nightshade Peddler to pick off larger targets and making small creatures like Elite Vanguard into larger threats with the bonded might of Trusted Forcemage, Druid’s Familiar, and of course, Wolfir Silverheart. It was great basis to go off of. However, I hate completely copying people’s decks cause that takes out half the fun of deck building. So...
